An Iconic Droid Reimagined as a Limited Edition Flying Tourbillon
Created in collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm, the Star Wars Series – R2-D2 Tourbillon transforms one of the most beloved droids in cinematic history into a highly collectible mechanical timepiece designed by Hong Kong musician and designer Mark Lui.
Inspired by R2-D2’s unmistakable form and loyal role in the Star Wars universe, the watch adopts a blue-and-silver color palette that instantly recalls the character’s iconic appearance. The dial is built around an embossment of R2-D2 and uses sculptural, layered design elements to capture the look of the astromech droid in a refined and wearable way. Blue sapphire hour markers and blue dauphine hands further reinforce the futuristic visual identity of the piece.
At 6 o’clock, the flying tourbillon rotates once every 60 seconds, bringing motion and mechanical life to the dial. The manually wound movement consists of 155 components and 18 jewels, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and delivers a 40-hour power reserve.
The 43 mm stainless steel case is paired with a blue alligator strap, completing the watch’s cool, sci-fi inspired look. Limited to 100 pieces, the R2-D2 edition is a distinctive crossover between fine watchmaking and one of the most iconic robot characters ever created.
