The Dark Side Reimagined as a Flying Tourbillon
Created in collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm, the Star Wars Series – Kylo Ren Tourbillon transforms one of the saga’s most compelling Dark Side characters into a dramatic mechanical collector’s watch designed by Hong Kong musician and designer Mark Lui.
The watch adopts an uncompromising all-black aesthetic inspired by Kylo Ren’s armour, mask, and flowing cloak. His redesigned mask dominates the dial, while skeletonized openings through the eyes and mouth reveal the mechanical movement beneath. The dark architecture gives the impression of a powerful mechanical heart concealed behind the character’s intimidating exterior.
Signature elements from the Star Wars universe are incorporated directly into the time display. A TIE Fighter forms the hour hand, while Kylo Ren’s distinctive red crossguard lightsaber becomes the minute hand. Twelve black diamonds serve as hour markers, reinforcing the monochrome design with a discreet touch of precious brilliance.
At 6 o’clock, the flying tourbillon completes one full rotation every 60 seconds, bringing continuous movement to the character-inspired composition. The manually wound movement comprises 155 components and 18 jewels, operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and provides a 40-hour power reserve.
Finished with a black nylon strap inspired by Kylo Ren’s cloak, the watch is presented in a spacecraft-inspired collector’s box with a black exterior and contrasting red interior. Limited to 100 pieces, each watch was supplied with Star Wars illustrations, a certificate signed by Mark Lui, and a three-year warranty.
