A Dark Side Icon Brought to Life in Flying Tourbillon Form
Created in collaboration with Disney and Lucasfilm, the Star Wars Series – Darth Vader Tourbillon transforms one of cinema’s most iconic villains into a bold mechanical collector’s watch designed by Hong Kong musician and designer Mark Lui.
The watch is executed in a dramatic all-dark composition inspired by Darth Vader’s unmistakable helmet and armour. His sculpted mask dominates the dial, while openings through the eyes and mouth reveal glimpses of the mechanical movement beneath, giving the character a powerful and mysterious presence on the wrist.
To deepen the connection to the Star Wars universe, the time display incorporates thematic design elements directly into the hands. A TIE Fighter serves as the hour hand, while Darth Vader’s red lightsaber is reimagined as the minute hand, adding motion and narrative to the dial. The hour markers are set with 11 black diamonds and 1 ruby, reinforcing the dark palette while adding a subtle flash of precious detail.
At 6 o’clock, the flying tourbillon rotates once every 60 seconds, bringing life and movement to the lower half of the dial. The manually wound movement consists of 155 components and 18 jewels, beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour, and delivers a 40-hour power reserve.
Completing the design is a stainless steel bracelet that enhances the watch’s strong, armour-like character. Limited to 100 pieces, the Darth Vader edition is a striking crossover between fine watchmaking and one of the most enduring legends in science fiction.
